About

Rolling Hills Lodge is Cherokee’s newest hotel and the winner of the June 2016 Cherokee Pride Award for Outstanding Customer Service. Nestled beside the Great Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway we are located in the center of the Cherokee Cultural District. Rolling Hills Lodge is within walking distance to attractions, such as the Museum of the Cherokee and the Qualla Arts & Craft Mutual. There are many outdoor activities to choose from in Cherokee including swimming, tubing, rafting, fishing and hiking. The Occonaluftee River is located directly across the street from us. Guests can leave their car parked at our hotel and let the Cherokee Shuttle Service transport them anywhere in Cherokee, such as, Harrah’s Casino. We invite you to stay with us and experience the beauty of the oldest mountains on earth. Watch the Sunset from our covered porch in the evening as you relax and restore your spirit.

WildLife Visit Us at Rolling Hills

It is not uncommon for guests to see Elk roaming about Cherokee.  Sometimes, these magnificent creatures even graze on our bank.  Rolling Hills Lodge is on the Elk Trail and Elk do walk though our parking lot on average at least twice a week.  Elk were reintroduced in the Cataloochee Valley of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 2001 and are a protected species.  We can not guarantee you will see Elk on your visit to Cherokee; however, the best times to view Elk are in the early morning hours and just before sunset at dusk.  Elk are large animals weighing at 500 pounds and though they look like gentle beasts they are still wild.  Please do not feed the Elk.  They do enjoy being photographed from a distance.  It is best to use a binoculars, and telephoto lens to view and photograph the Elk.  By law it is best to maintain a distance of 50 yards or 150 feet from all wildlife in the park. It is against the law to feed, touch, tease, frighten, or intentional disturb wildlife.

  • In addition to Elk, protected wildlife include the Black Bear, White Tailed Deer, Wild Turkeys, Raccoons, Woodchucks, Bats, Owls, and species including reptiles and amphibians.
